Do What Makes You Happy To Reach Weight Loss Goals

You are beautiful no matter what.

As females, we have grown up struggling with our self-image. We constantly worry about "do I look good?" We have so many variables that work into that question: weight, clothes, shoes, jewelry, acne, hair, makeup, only to name a few of the main things.

Personally, the main thing I struggle with is my weight. When I was younger, I was always skinny. However, as I have gotten older, I have gained so much weight. I really miss my sixteen-year-old body. I played sports constantly so I stayed toned and fit. I never worried about what kind of bathing suit I wore, how tight my jeans were, or anything like that.

I know other girls struggle with this, too. So, here is something to remember: It's just weight! You can lose it. It's not going to be easy. Losing weight is something that takes hard work, determination, and perseverance. It isn't easy, but you can do it.

There are many excuses for weight gain. Stress has a lot to do with it. However, if you are unhappy with your weight, then it is completely up to YOU to change it. I also want you to realize that you don't have to go to the gym to exercise. You could run around the block. If you don't like to run, then you can ride your bike. Buy a 10-minute workout video from Walmart and follow a routine.Yes, you are going to feel silly, but who cares? Nobody is going to see you doing these crazy workouts. All they will see is your body changing.

Make yourself a routine. Find someone you are comfortable with and ask them to be your partner. Ask to go with someone who is already in tremendous shape and follow their lead. If you need a trainer that will keep you on track, then get one!

Exercise is great, but that's only half of it. You need to figure out how to change your eating habits. That means you need to cut out fast food and sodas, which I know is really difficult. This part takes a lot of self-discipline, but once you get used to it, you will honestly feel so much better. Fast food makes you feel so sluggish and tired, and once you swap it out for a whole wheat sandwich and a cup of fruit, you will feel much better, trust me on that one.

Find something that is fun to you, like swimming, Zumba, weight machines, obstacle courses, rowing, and whatever else there is out there. Working out is going to be miserable at first, but the more you do it, the more fun you will have. You will be amazed at how many people are in the same boat and want to change as much as you do. Share your journey with others; if you make it public, it will hold you more accountable to actually do it! In the process, you may be the inspiration that others who are struggling really need.

All in all, you just need to do what makes you happy. If you are fine with your weight, then that is great. If not, then change it! Your future is all up to you. Just know one thing- you are beautiful no matter what, and everything you do is your own choice. Good luck to everyone this year; I hope all of your goals get accomplished- whatever they may be!

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
