Inside My Head: Part II
Power of Positivity

I don’t see the point in anger, or hatred. I also don’t understand how some people can be so cruel that hatred has become such a well known thing. In 2001 three airplanes were hijacked, and set out to crash into 3 major buildings in The United States. How can anyone be so spiteful to set out to ruin so many innocent lives? What can cause that kind of anger within someone? How can anyone ruin so many lives, take away a child’s parents so easily? What instills such a thing within someone that they feel they have no option other than to cause total destruction of ones life. So many children were left without parents that day, and so many parents were left without children. So many people had to call their loved ones from those planes and say goodbye to them for what they thought would be forever, for some that actually became a reality. Can you imagine having to keep the same recording of your husband’s voice on an answering machine for years just so you can go back and listen to them telling you that they love you one last time? Can you imagine a love so deep that you’d use your very last breath and living moment on this earth to call them and tell them how much they mean to you even if you don’t know how many seconds you have left. Can you imagine growing up without a parent because out of anger, and jealousy, and hatred, someone took their life from you when you were only five years old? Can you imagine being that child’s parent and having to explain to your child when they get older and can finally understand what happened why they grew up without a father? Or a mother? Or in some cases, both. It is so easy to let anger define us.

It is so easy to let all of the happiness that we worked so hard for go, and to turn all of your emotions into anger. It is easier to be angry than it is to be happy. Most of the time happiness has to be worked for, and there aren’t many people who feel the need to search for such a thing. People throw their lives into their jobs, or into their school work, and often forget to stop and step back and become aware of all of the wonderful things in life that so often go unseen. I understand that life is busy and hectic, and not everyone has the opportunity to seek happiness in the ways that others do, but there is happiness out there for everyone. I’d like to believe that at least. Life isn’t always going to go the way that we expect it to but we can’t just sit back and let it walk all over us. Everyone deserves some kind of happiness in their life, whether that be with a relationship, or a family, or a job promotion, or traveling the world. Everyone is different. Everyone has different wants and needs. I cannot write what your happiness may be, but I can tell you to go out and find it. Living a life full of anger and misery is not what anyone intended for you during your time on this earth. Make your life what you want it to be.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
