This Thursday, a new place of magic and wonder will officially open its doors to tourists and citizens of Shanghai, China. That’s right, a new Disney resort has finally reached completion and will make its debut June 16.
The park, covering over 900 acres, has been accepting visitors while in the park's trial operations stage. And thanks to social medias like Instagram, those that are interested in the new resort have been able to get a sneak peek of what the park looks like.
It has been said that somewhere around 10,000 cast members have been hired to work at the park, which may sound like a lot of people, but remember that the park covers 963 acres.
Of the many new and old additions that will carry on the Disney tradition, the biggest and tallest castle to ever grace a Disney park will take the stage.
But one thing that differs this park from some of the other American and International Disney parks is that China holds a greater stake in the park than Disney, which was an important condition during the negotiations between Disney and China. Because of this, the project coined a phrase that the park needed to be “authenticly Disney, distinctly Chinese.”
Also exciting about the Shanghai location is that it has lands, rides and shows dedicated to newer Disney films, unlike the original Disneyland park in California, which caters to many of Walt Disney’s original fantasies. There’s even a whole area dedicated to the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise.
There will also be some of the original lands, like Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.
And there’s even a part of the park that has an “Alice in Wonderland” theme.
But we can’t forget to mention the food. Lots of the confections and treats at the park have a familiar shape that we’ve all come to love and recognize: Mickey's ears.
While we can’t fully understand the magnitude of magic that resides at the park by creeping on Instagram, we can get a good idea. And from what it looks like, the new Shanghai Disney Resort looks like it will be nothing but successful.
