Indecisiveness is not always a good thing

A list the five reasons on why you should not be an indecisive voter this year

Indecisiveness is not always a good thing
Question mark

Today marks the official first day of early voting in the state of Arkansas and other possible locations. This election year has probably been one of the craziest years to ever come through this entire country. We had so many potentially great candidates. Now, we are down to literally who is the lesser of the two evils. But, that is not the scariest part of the selection. No, the scariest part is that there are people who are still undecided or refusing to vote as a result of the circumstances behind the selection. So, I will briefly give you a list of five reasons why being indecisive is not a good idea for this election.

1. No Vote is still a vote!

The old saying goes, "By choosing to remain silent, you have chosen the oppressor's side." Simply refusing to vote because of how ridiculous this election has become is not an option at this point! Lest we forget, there are absentee ballots for those who have had a voting history. Basically, if you prefer candidate A, but your party history swings for candidate B, you are screwed. Royally screwed.

2. This is not your ordinary presidential election!

As it has been broadcasted, we are in the middle of a battle of wits and media play. Both candidates have a shady and nowhere near spotless record. Each have policies that are questionable. On top of that, the American people are divided by their own ideologies and both candidates represent two different ideologies. It is a civil war without gunfire.

3. Our social structure is at a breaking point and this election is the crack!

To repeat, both candidates have their own ideologies and it is tearing the country apart. Our country has more social issues, with some issues that have lasted for several years since the creation of this country. It is clear that both candidates are using the social issues present as elevations to the campaign, yet only a few times a plan has been expressed. Is the saying, "We, the people?" The people should know what they want, but the truth is many of us do not. That can be dangerous for this society. (Read: Every single apocalyptic movie)

4. The American people who are undecided show how much knowledge is (not) present in this country.

If I were to give a name to this point I would call it "The American Idiot complex". For the ones with intelligence, it is baffling how there are STILL undecided voters after watching three mind-numbing (dumbing) presidential debates. Bill Maher called this issue out in his show last week. https://youtu.be/yIMW1C-yy8k

It is a rather biting truth, but a point is made. With all the information that we know about this election and with several resources to teach us, it doesn't make sense how there is still a group of people who cannot choose between two unlikely candidates.

5. There's no taking back the choice once it has been made!

Unless a dire circumstance befalls on us that requires a recount (See Bush-Gore 2000 Election)ALL VOTES AFTER ELECTION DAY ARE FINAL AND WILL NOT BE RECONSIDERED! This would be a bad time to complain about the choices that one did not make!

Obama left A good advice in response to the ridiculousness of this election. "Don't boo. Vote." If you want to prove your intelligence, not start another civil war, make a change in this corrupt system, then vote! If there's any time to have a decision about something, now is the time! It's like what Dr. Seuss has said with "The Lorax," "Unless somebody like you cares a lot, nothing will ever change, it will not. Also, do not forget that this is not only a change in the national presidency, but also this election changes the offices in your local area and state area. So go and vote! Encourage friends and family that are able and qualified, to vote. Make yourself known to the group that willingly ignores your existence for the good of the country. The government.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
