Incredible Poem's From The Book "milk and honey" by Rupi Kaur

When I first heard about the book "milk and honey," I was very interested and eager to read it, even though I haven't read much in the past few years. Like many other young woman, I have gone through heartache and times where I felt very lost in life. In this book, the author, Rupi Kaur, has a poem dedicated to a page of its own that has words that describe every feeling you've ever felt. You didn't know it was possible all of the hurting, loving, breaking and healing you've experienced could be written in one book by someone else. Here are some of the poems throughout this book that made me stop, think and realize.

Chapter one: The Hurting

"you tell me to quiet down cause my opinions make me less beautiful but i was not made with a fire in my belly so i could be put out i was not made with a lightness on my tongue so i could be easy to swallow i was made heavy half blade and half silk difficult to forget and not easy for the mind to follow." This is by far one of my favorites, you were not made to sit back and look pretty. You were made to speak your mind and be unforgettable.

"she was a rose in the hands of those who had no intentions of keeping her."
For all of those people out there who feel replaceable and used.

"the idea that we are so capable of love but still choose to be toxic." We live in a time where people don't want to love, we are scared of love, so we hurt.

Chapter two: The Loving

"I do not want to have you to fill the empty parts of me i want to be full on my own i want to be so complete i could light a whole city and then i want to have you cause the two of us combined could set it on fire." This is the type of love everyone deserves, to love when you're ready, to be whole on your own.

"i need someone who knows struggle as well as i do someone willing to hold my feet in their lap on days it is too difficult to stand the type of person who gives exactly what i need before i even know i need it the type of lover who hears me even when i do not speak is the type of understanding i demand." - the type of lover i need. This is all anyone could ever want from a significant lover, understanding.

Chapter three: The Breaking

"don't mistake salt for sugar if he wants to be with you he will it's that simple." In just a few words Rupi opens your eyes to realize, if someone wants to be with you, they will. It's a harsh reality.

"when you are so broken and he has left you do not question whether you were enough the problem was you were so enough he was not able to carry it." You are always enough, you are always good, some people can't care for you the way you needed to be cared for.

Chapter four: The Healing

"stay strong through your pain grow flowers from it you have helped me grow flowers out of mine so bloom beautifully dangerously loudly bloom softly however you need just bloom." - to the reader. This is by far one of my favorites from the entire book, take your pain and turn yourself into something beautiful.

"i know it's hard believe me i know it feels like tomorrow will never come and today will be the most difficult day to get through but i swear you will get through the hurt will pass as it always does if you give it time and let it so let it go slowly like a broken promise let it go." This poem took my heart right out of my chest. That's all I have to say about it.

"most importantly love like it's the only thing you know how at the end of the day all this means nothing this page where you're sitting your degree your job the money nothing even matters except love and human connection who you loved and how deeply you loved them how you touched the people around you and how much you gave them." When you are old and reflecting on life, nothing is going to matter besides the people you have loved and given you love in return. The past few years I have viewed love as an awful thing, being so vulnerable to one person. This book has helped me reflect that love and hurt is what shapes you into the person you are. You take your pain and make something out of yourself, although some people have different ways of doing this. Throughout your life I want you to remember to love, love hard and hurt bad, you will be okay.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
