Many of you older readers out there have secured internships for the summer or may have already begun a job during the spring semester -- believe me, the ones of us who haven’t know you have when you walk into class every day five minutes late dressed in a suit.
If school doesn’t make us want to get out and party at the end of the week, work certainly will. You’re going to want to know what to do when you leave the office late, and you want to dress down that business suit to go out and party with your friends.
Here are some valuable tips to do that for
the guys out there:
Happy Socks offers wild patterns and flashy colors, creating a way to show style when you want or hide it under your pant leg if needed. Unlike a polka dot shirt under your conservative sports coat, rock a nice pair of blue socks with pink polka dots.
The cool thing about this statement of style is that you can flash it when you want. So when you’re in the board room, you can keep your flair at bay and remain conservative, but when your out on the town, the ladies will see you’ve got a great sense of style under those pressed slacks.
2. Choose shirts more wisely.Monday through Thursday is a great time to wear your average Brooks Brothers oxford dress shirts that you wore for your first presentation at school, your first interview, and the one you will probably wear at graduation. Friday is the day you can step your game up a little bit, just in case you happen to meet up with friends for drinks after a long day at work.
One of my personal favorite brands for dressier shirts is Robert Graham. If you are working on a budget, you can find these at Nordstrom Rack and Neiman’s Last Call very easily. Now, before you go loosing you mind saying those shirts are for crazy people, think for a second because they do offer more conservative patterns for guys who can’t express themselves on an everyday basis as much as say, Dan Bilzerian (look him up on instagram… unreal).
Yes, Robert Graham has been known to have some super extravagant shirts, but if you’re in need of a stylish yet tasteful shirt that you can wear under your blazer at work and out to the bar afterwards, there is a great option. Something as simple as the Robert Graham stamp on the cuff can add a touch of sophistication to your look.
So, when you’re waking up on a Friday morning and sipping your cup of coffee, take a moment to scan your wardrobe and see if it needs a little spicing up in the after work bar attire section. If you think you do need some additions, I promise you a couple pairs of socks and two to three shirts are a great investment.
