Dear Freshman Bringing God To College,

First of all, congratulations for making it to college. These next four years will be full of fun times but also ups and downs. Your first year you will meet so many new people.

You will get to experience lots of new things and live on your own.

Unfortunately, with new experiences come test and trails. I know it can be scary going to college especially being a child of God. Sometimes you will feel like you do not belong because you won't participate the things other students do. Do not be discouraged. The Bible says, We are in the world but not of it ( John 17:14-15) this means that we must conduct ourselves in a different manner than everyone else.

Your faith will be tested many times in the class room and outside of the classroom, but you will have to stay strong by being rooted in the word of God.

When I was a freshman in college, I had an English professor who was a well-known atheist. I had no problem with him being an atheist except for the fact that he pushed his beliefs on everyone. He would say things like " Make sure you read tonight in your books and search for the answers. I think you should do some research on God too, he isn't real." This made students very uncomfortable. Many students dropped his class because his comments were more important to him than our lesson plans. Very few Christian students spoke out.

You never want to be the passive Christian who doesn't speak out or stand your ground when your faith is being tested. You will have people who will unknowingly try to pull you away. You will have people peer pressuring you to smoke, drink, and party. What will your answer be though? It has to be "NO!". You will have to be firm.

The most exciting part about bringing God to college with you is that you are not alone. Yes, you read that correctly. There are so many other students who are going to bring Him with them too. In fact, many college campuses have organizations dedicated to Christians and several different denominations. These organizations are dedicated to spreading the gospel, helping students, helping the community and serving God. Try to get involved with one of the organizations on campus. This will help you establish godly friendships and also build relationships with people who can support you.

Your freshman year will be a very exciting one! I know you will come out on top after all you have God on your side. I have no doubt through your hard work and faith that you will inspire others to be bold and live in the word of God. I wish you the best of luck in your upcoming year.

Sincerely,

Another Student With God In College

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
