I have been fortunate enough in this life to be loved, I mean genuinely, profoundly, and intentionally loved. I grew up with a family who stood by me, parents who never backed down, a brother and sister who never turned their back on me, even when I was in the wrong. I had an extended family who kept their doors, and arms, wide open.
I grew up knowing who Christ is and what our savior offers to us through Christ Jesus his son, the gift of eternal life. I have been blessed to have felt God's presence in my life at my lowest points, because just like us all, I can assure you, I've had plenty.
I won't sell you on sob stories, I've had some tough trials and tall hurdles to overcome, however, I know that's life, and we've all experienced it. There is no lack of disappointments or great mistakes that separate us from each other, it is not our failures that brings us unity, it is our successes.
I have been lifted up to reach tall peaks, praised for my excellency and admired for what has been God given. I have been ridiculed for my poor choices, reviewed with harsh judgments from complete strangers, and criticized for my personal preferences. Having seen both sides to the characters of others, I chose to believe that good prevails over evil, and being thankful for what we have, is far better than being bitter for what we do not. Beauty shines through dark places, and heartbreak is eased through a faithful and prayerful heart.
My hope for us all this holiday season, as family and friends unite, is that we also seek to find all the small blessings we are given daily, and have been given to each and every one of us, the little that we forget to be thankful for, like blankets on cold nights, smiles that bring us joy, or simply putting lights on Christmas trees. Lets us all show our thanks, in our actions, in our words, and in our lives, and may we all continue to remain in the presence of thanks. Happy holidays to you all!
