A well-known quote goes, "Until God opens a door, praise Him in the hallway."
I never quite comprehended the entire meaning behind this until I hit a point where I felt as if God had graciously kicked me out of every room in my life, only to leave me semi-alone in a hallway. Seems pretty relatable, right? You know the time in your life where it is like nothing is going right and you do not even have anyone to complain to; all of the doors are locked?
We have all been there, like it or not.
The hallway represents sacrifice. It represents a place where time creeps by and loneliness, doubt, and fear fly through. A place where God is literally right beside us, but, to us, it is as if He is hiding from us in one of the many rooms down the hall that we appear to be locked out of.
"Wait" is more than a word. It is a trial. It is a test. It is the moment where God is molding us into the servant He needs. It is where He is preparing our life to receive the gifts He has planned for His according to His will.
Psalms 27:14 says, "Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD."
As easy as the scriptures may make it seem, waiting is the hardest part; the hallway is the hardest place. Waiting for the unknown is hard.
Another quote I recently ran across said, "God gives His best to those who leave the choice to Him." That, my friend, is the hallway process. That simple quote unites the idea that faith and patience are the only necessities for in the hallway. If we just completely surrender our life to Him, He will take care of His people.
While you wait on that job opportunity, Mr./Mrs. Right, that answer from God or anything else, realize you are in the hallway. The hallway means God has you in the center of His hand as he hand picks and places the perfect surrounds to fit the indescribable will He has for each of us.
The hallway is hard. The hallway is lonely. The hallway is a part of a great process.
Savor the hallway. Cling closer to God as He is preparing to change your life for the better.
In the hallway, God is still faithful.
