Living in a small town, in my opinion, is a privilege. You don't have to worry about not knowing anybody because everyone literally knows everybody else, and if they do not know them personally then they at least know a family member of them. In a small town, you become close with others (yes, most definitely sometimes too close), so whenever an event of some sort occurs, you will hear about it quickly.
The small town I currently live in has had a pretty bad few weeks since around Thanksgiving. A former student, from our high school, got into a severe car accident and unfortunately passed days later. The day school got out for Thanksgiving break, a current student lost his dad to suicide. And the most recent event happened just today, Saturday, December 17, 2016. A fire broke out at a local restaurant destroying not only it but also the businesses in the same building.
When you live in a small town people come together and support one another. With all of these events, the community comes together in support of each other, no matter how big or small the problem may be. They will help you in any way they can. You will always belong in a small town and have the support you need when you need it.
