Regular tv watching has declined tremendously in the last few years. You can thank streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu for that. With different networks allowing Netflix and Hulu to make their content available, those networks lose out on some of the money those shows earn and some of those networks have decided to take action.
NBC has decided to take The Office off of Netflix and put it on their own streaming service in 2021. I personally am very upset by this because The Office is one of my favorite shows and I have to give all credit to Netflix for allowing me to watch it. I am not always able to keep up with shows on tv because I might get busy or distracted. Netflix allows me to watch what I want, whenever I want.
Just about every network has a streaming service that the viewer has to either log in with their tv provider or pay 8 or more dollars a month for. What's the point? I understand that each network wants to be able to collect all the revenue those shows bring in instead of sharing with Netflix and they just want to cut out the middleman, but in my opinion, I think that they would lose money because people are not going to spend money on multiple streaming services just so they can watch one or two shows from the network. Netflix is just a nice hub where all shows could be located and that makes it so much easier on the customer
I spent $7.99 a month for the DC Universe streaming service just so I could watch two shows. They were both great, but I hated checking my bank account to see that money missing. I pay about that for Netflix and I watch many more shows on there and I also have access to movies I like. Millions of people are going to have to go through the same thing and tv will just go back to being how it used to be. Even if people want to just stream everything, they will still most likely have to pay the same amount as a cable bill because each streaming service will be about $10 and the price will go up if they are trying to share the service with family or friends.
