My College Is Going Back To In Person Classes And I Am Happy About It

A lot of schools are switching to hybrid and virtual classes with this pandemic raging through planet Earth. My school is doing in person classes, and here's why I'm happy about it.

Classes being done in person causes a lot of controversy and uproar about protecting the staff, as well as the students. Personally, my school is opting for hybrid classes and placing social distancing guidelines as well as a masking mandate for in-person classes. While masks can cause discomfort, they are protecting those around you by keeping your germs away from my germs. With universities as well as cities having a masking mandate, it is providing us the opportunity to still attend school while being sanitary and safe.

The incoming freshman class of 2024 has had our senior year ripped from our hands, and the last thing we want is for our freshman year of college to be taken away as well. The masks as well as social distancing lets us get somewhat of a college experience while being safe and cautious of those around us. Classes opting for hybrid or online options allows students to get the college experience of being on campus but also allowing for the safety of the staff and students.

Universities are also having online options for their students that do not feel safe enough to take their classes in-person. The hybrid option is also available, where they do not have to take it in person all the time but not completely online either. This is helpful for people who do not get much from online learning.

Giving students the option to take online or in-person classes is the best thing to do in a situation like this, especially when social distancing and masking guidelines are in place.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
