It's funny how much five hours can change a person's day. Our lives are comprised of little moments and big moments. Though the big moments affect our lives in obvious ways, the little moments can be just as effective. Someone might ask you in the morning, "Hey how are you," and you would probably reply, "Tired." You might even come off a little grumpy because you haven't had your coffee yet. Five hours later you've had ten cups of coffee and you're smiling like an idiot to everyone you meet. Well you smiling might effect someone's day, and suddenly their day goes from sad to happy. In the next five hours you can feel so many emotions. Hate. Love. Hurt. Happiness. So much can come from so little time.
The thing about time that fascinates people is that it is uncontrollable and the possibilities of the future are unpredictable. You can plan and hope for the future of tomorrow and the future of a year from tomorrow but somehow your plans always manage to change. When was the last time your day went exactly as you planned it?
For some people they plan to go on trips after college and do all the things they've always wanted to do but then suddenly they find love and settle down instead. For other people they plan on pursuing a major in business to hopefully successfully manage a company only to be recruited for a modeling agency. It can be as simple as walking down the street and being complemented by a stranger that changes your outlook, to something that completely changes your entire world view like a change of religion.
As humans in today's world we live relatively short lives. But in those lives we accomplish so much. Because we know our days are numbered, we also know how to live to make those days count. Have you ever been asked, "Where do you see yourself in ten years?" I'm telling you now in just a short amount of time like ten years our lives can change completely. A person could go from living on a farm in Indiana to paying rent in a crappy apartment in New York. Why? Because no matter how many plans are laid out, nothing is ever set in stone.
Maybe you're having a rough day right now, maybe you're having a rough year, but that could all change in as little as five hours. People have the power to effect other people's lives. Where do you see yourself in five hours?
