Summer has began! The weather has warmed and everyone is outside. While the summer months are full of great fun, it's important to think of your pets as the weather gets hotter. Here are five important tips to keep you pet happy and healthy this summer!
Numbe one: Never leave your pet in a locked car. Keep on mind that it will be much hotter in the car then it is outside. If you absolutely must leave them in the car, make sure the windows are down and do not leave them alone for more then a few minutes. If you are going to be longer then a few short minutes, you are better off leaving them home.
Number two: Be careful when walking your dog on the pavement. While the temperature outside may not seem to dire, pavement can heat up enough to burn paws. A good tip is if it's too hot for you to walk barefoot, it's likely too hot for your dog's paws.
Number three: Cats enjoy a nice breeze when the weather gets too hot. If you have a cat at home, I suggest setting up a small fan on a light breeze. Your cat will chilling by the fan all day.
Number four: Stray cats try to beat the heat by chilling in the shade. Before you get in your car, always check underneath for any strays trying to beat the heat.
Number five: Always bring plenty of water along with you when walking your pet. If you're taking your dog on a walk, whether it be long or short, it's important to keep your dog well hydrated to prevent illness or over overheating.
Keep your pets happy and healthy this summer!
