It's Really Important To Take Care Of Your Body, So Do
By Dominic Lowyears.

It’s so easy to forget about your body. Sometimes we just let ourselves go in the name of “busy” or “unable."

I remember growing up my mom wouldn’t let me and my sister eat sugary cereals or drink carbonated sodas. We always bought healthy “soda” and cheerios without flavor. I drank water and juice up until I was about fourteen. Candy was always out of the question unless there was a special occasion, like Easter or Christmas. Otherwise, sweets were off limits. We didn’t even drink regular milk. It was either almond milk or lactose-free.

I hated that when I was little, but the older I get the more I realize how nutritionally intuitive my mother was. She was always knowledgeable about ingredients and their effects on the body. I never appreciated that until now.

College is rough on the human body. We scarf down ramen noodles until sodium comes out of our ears. Whatever is cheap and whatever is easy. Most food groups in those categories don’t exactly scream "health."

Like I said, these circumstances can make us forget to take care of ourselves but there is always a way.

Water is cheap and available. Burgers can be ordered as lettuce wraps at some restaurants (my mom does this because she can’t eat gluten). Coffee can be ordered without the heavy whipping cream and sugary syrup. Pizza doesn’t have to be eaten and if so, it can be ordered with vegetables on it.

There are so many ways to take care of your body under a budget and a time-crunch.

It isn't even about weight or image, it should be about having more energy and feeling accomplished. Eating with a purpose will change the way you see the world.

I've learned that going for a run gives me a boost of energy and it helps me clear my head. When I run everyday, my work-ethic improves, my grades recover, and I'm less irritable with others and myself. Drinking massive amounts of water gives me better digestion and makes me feel bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

It's important to find things that better your body and keep you fueled throughout the day. Don't be afraid to go for it and try new active hobbies that make you sweat.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
