Things To Thank The Important People For

Everyone has that one person in their life that they feel fortunate to know and lucky to have in their life. This person has supported you through the ups and downs, made you laugh, and never left your side. Here are some things you have probably forgotten to thank them for.

1. Spotting the fake friend

Whether it's your mom, grandma, aunt, best friend, sister, brother, boyfriend, or girlfriend they were able to see something in that person you didn't. They noticed that fake friends jealousy or pointed out to you how that person was taking advantage of you. At the time you may not have been too happy with them, but looking back you're glad they said something and waved the red flag about that person.

2. Being brutally honest

That dress you LOVED and thought you looked good in, but in reality you looked like a feather duster? Yeah, it wasn't easy for them to tell you that you didn't look as great as you thought you did, but it had to be said. Looking back on it the dress you found and wore looked MUCH better on you. Their constant, brutal honesty helped you make better decisions.

3. Defending you

At one point there has been a rumor or something mean said in a conversation about us. This person stood up and defended you, even if it meant putting them in a weird situation or in the middle of others.

4. Staying by your side

Life isn't always rainbows and butterflies. Sometimes it gets hard and it's nice to have that person who has seen you on both your brightest days and darkest ones. Having a person who can go through the ups and downs of life with you make those twists and turns so much easier to navigate.

5. Making you laugh so hard your sides hurt

No matter what you can count on this person to make you laugh. Even if it's over the smallest thing this person can make you crack up. You have too many inside jokes to be considered normal. You know you can call this person when you're feeling down and they'll know just how to cheer you up.

This is just a short list of all the things you should thank the important people in your life for. If this person is your best friend, boyfriend, girlfriend, boyfriend, cousin, aunt, uncle, mom, dad, grandparent, brother, or sister make sure you take a few moments to thank them for whatever they do for you. It doesn't have to be a big grand gesture, but a simple thank you will go a long way. They'll feel appreciated and you'll feel good for acknowledging what they do for you.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
