2016 was a hard year for the world. Amid all the bad news, some pretty fantastic things happened this past year and we shouldn't look past that. So here are 10 good things that happened in 2016!

Unemployment is at an all time low since the recession
The Americas are the first region in the world to be officially measles free
China said it will start to phase out its ivory trade
The rerouting of the Dakota Access Pipeline
Columbia Peace Deals end 52 years of armed conflict
Sri Lanka is malaria free
Harriet Tubman will be on the $20 bill
World hunger is at its lowest in 25 years
Global carbon emissions have remained flat-lined for the third year in a row
Lastly, Leonardo DiCaprio finally got that OscarHere's to 2016. May 2017 be a year filled with even more good news!
