The Importance of Store Communication in a World Where Communication Is Key

It’s 2017 and you would think by now that we’d understand communication more than we understand anything else, mainly because we use it every day. Sadly, that is not the case. We’re still learning how to communicate more efficiently in a world where technology is at our disposal.

There are a plethora of different types of communication, whether it be in friendships, relationships, or work, but today we’re going to focus on store communication. You might be asking yourself, why is store communication SO important? Well, for starters if everyone isn’t on the same page then there is room for error.

When something goes wrong, especially within a store you have to deal with the, “he said, she said” dilemma if nothing is left in writing. Again, another reason why clear communication in this environment is a necessity. Here are some tips on how to boost your stores internal communication.

Invest in Store Communication Tools

You can find a tool to help improve your store communication just by doing a quick Google search! There are so many tools out there that allow you to communication to all of your employees through one simple platform. For example, Retail Zipline allows users to send emails, documents and reminders to each employee, creating a space for everyone to communicate efficiently and effectively.

Download Chat Apps

The first app that comes to mind is Slack, arguably one of the best professional group chat apps among top professionals. It’s quick and easy and you can access it right from your cell phone. You can even create different group threads based on topics you need to discuss, happy chatting!

GroupMe is also another app you can use to keep in contact. It allows you to create different groups and send events, reminders, and react to each others messages.

Conduct Weekly Meetings

This might sound obvious but having weekly meetings will allow you to create a more efficient environment for your retail team. Sure technology is great but nothing beats a face to face conversation, especially when dealing with issues.

With all of these tips, improving your stores internal communication should be a breeze. They say communication is key and if everyone is on the same page, you can all move towards your main goal, making the store the best one out there.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. "College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
