According to the National Sleep Foundation, “As a nation, the United States appears to be becoming more and more sleep deprived."
So, how do we fix or reverse sleep deprivation? If you are sleepy, it is ideal for you to nap. And after you wake up from your nap, drink a caffeinated beverage. It can be sugar-free and still have caffeine!
How great is that?
Feeling better is just one close of your eyelids away, and you will thank yourself later for this little bit of self-care. And that is what you are doing for your body when you nap; you are caring for it.
Remember when you were younger and you hated taking naps? Well, now as an adult, you can not function without seven to eight hours of sleep — and a nap!
Experts believe that "a short nap of 20 to 30 minutes can help to improve mood, alertness and performance."
See? It's even proven that a quick 20 or 30-minute nap can easily fix your moodiness. Everyone needs to nap. We should be making time for them, even in our hectic lives. It may be inconvenient, but it is necessary for your brain to function properly and efficiently.
But, how do you find the time? If you have a significant other, that could be a time for you two to relax and catch a few z's while being with each other.
You can even group nap. Get together with some friends and take a nap during the day before you go out. You and your friends are still with each other, but you are sleeping and caring for yourselves at the same time. How cool.
This also works if you have a child. Sometime throughout the day, your child has to take a nap. So, when they lie down for a nap, you can lie down for 20 to 30 minutes and be pumped up for when your little tot wakes up!
Adulting is such a weird thing that no one expects, but naps are little presents that help keep us afloat.
