Mindset Is The Biggest Thing

Keep your focus on the road ahead.

Mindset Is The Biggest Thing

As I sat down in my classes during syllabus week, I was filled with excitement, happiness, and joy. As I left my classes that day, I had a couple of different feelings and thoughts on my mind.

I wasn't an 18-year-old sitting in a big lecture hall staring up at the screen waiting for the time to pass by for class to end. I wasn't the young freshman who was unsure about my career. I wasn't thinking about what my plans were for that night.

My mindset was different.

I am now a senior. I am almost 22 years old, sitting in a big lecture hall planning my schedule out daily. I am the senior who has a complete picture of my future career path. I am focused on one thing and one thing only, the future.

As I look around the room, there are many different types of people. There are many different ages of people. There are many different personalities. But one thing remains the same, each individual is in charge of his/her mindset.

Whether you are a freshman or a senior, you have the choice to change your mindset to focus on the important things. The things that are going to matter when you are handed that diploma.

The importance of one's mindset is that it paves the way to actions. Actions are the things in life that take you to where you want to be.

You may be wondering why I am forcing you to think of your direction of your own mindset right now, but that is because it really helped me when I was unsure of things as I approached my young adult years in college.

Everyone gets in your ear about your future plans, they may even give a negative opinion. However, if your mindset is where you want to be, no one can get in the way of that.

Mindset is the biggest thing.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
