"But first, coffee."

Having a cup of coffee is a very big part of my morning routine. Whether I am waking up at 8 a.m. or 11 a.m. having my first cup of coffee is the most important part of my day. For all of the coffee drinkers out there, you guys can understand these reasons why.

It's the First Comforting Smell

Sometimes the only thing that can get you out of bed is the smell of a fresh pot of coffee. When you're tired and maybe not the biggest morning person the smell of coffee and having a warm mug in your hand is that cozy feeling to lift you up.

Coffee Can't Talk Back

Overtime, I have realized I am not a morning person, so I feel for those non-morning people who don't want to have someone talk their ear off first thing. Even if that morning you just woke up on the wrong side of the bed, you just need to sit in peace with a cup of coffee that can't talk back.

Coffee and Friends is my Favorite Blend

If you are a morning person meeting up with your friends for an early coffee date is always a good idea. One of my favorite things to do is going out to breakfast or going to a coffee shop with my friends. Those effortless moments and conversations are priceless. Also, lets be honest that coffee before you leave the house for the coffee date is always appreciated.

Catching Up on Your Shows

When life gets hectic, especially for me, I always get behind on the million TV shows I commit myself to. So, sitting on the couch with a cup of coffee and catching up on them is so important. The only thing that makes my favorite TV shows better is coffee.

It Might be the Only Thing Holding You Together

Regardless of if you are a morning person, or if you're having a good or bad day, that cup of coffee might be the only thing holding you together. On days where things aren't quite going your way, for example, me this morning being late for an appointment. That cup of coffee might be saving you from letting something like that ruin your day to just laughing it off.

"Toss your hair in a bun, drink some coffee, put on some music, and handle it." As strange as it may sound, a simple cup of coffee gives me so much happiness and power to make it through the day. Whether it's at 8 a.m. and I am rushing out the door or 11 a.m. and I am curled up on the couch, coffee is so important. All of my fellow coffee drinkers understand that trying to deal with me before I have my morning cup of coffee will be a mixture of grumpiness and gibberish. Do yourself and everyone else a favor, always keep in mind, "but first, coffee."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
