Candace "Chewbacca Mom" Payne, one of the most recent videos to go viral, has made millions of people laugh. But this video is more than just a hilarious viral video. To some it may just be a video but to me there are some underlying messages that we should all support.

1) Embrace the little joys in life.

Candace bought the Chewbacca mask at Kohl's as part of her "birthday joy." Once she put on that mask and started laughing though, it was clear how pure her joy was. So maybe we should all find the things in life that bring us joy and embrace them.

2. "Treat yo self."

The phrase coined by Donna Meagle and Tom Haverford from "Parks and Rec," this mask is clearly a treat for herself. As said before, Candace purchased it for her "birthday joy." This purchase was definitely her treating herself. Now I'm not saying we should treat ourselves constantly, but every once in awhile, indulge in yourself. You won't regret it... unless you let the treating get out of hand.

3. Don't care what people think.

In the video Candace happily states that she wanted to share the news of her purchase with the people of the internet. Also she noticed people in the parking lot watching her as she filmed the video. But not once did the thought of what people were thinking of her stop her from the excited laugh attack. She did not let the judgement of society hold her back from true happiness.

So be like Chewbacca Mom and embrace the little joys in life, treat yo self, and try to not care what people think. Hopefully we can all be our own versions of "I'm such a happy Chewbacca".

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
