There are different birth control methods to take, but probably the most recent discovery is the implant. The most popular brands are Nexplanon and Implanon. After looking over reviews on pros and cons of living with the implant, this is what I found.
The birth control implant is planted into your skin on your upper arm where the implant stays for up to 3 years. I read a lot about how women had this procedure done wrong or hurtful. If the implant is planted too deep, have it removed immediately. The implant's effectiveness on protecting you from pregnancy is immediate.
Any birth control, in general, has side effects, including irregular period, weight gain, and/or acne. Some people can receive these effects on the pill, but this seems to be the most popular in having all these effects at the same time. Most women said they have a bruise left and I mostly read about women having their period for non-ending months. The longest I read, was a woman who had bled for 4 straight months. I also read that some women would take the pill on the implant to help regulate periods. What would be the point in taking both?
I am on the regular birth control pill and I never forget to take my pill-- 8 a.m. on the dot. If I decide to sleep in, I wake up to take it and go straight back to sleep. My first thoughts on the implant reminded me of, "lazy." I felt like if you really wanted to keep yourself from getting pregnant, you would most definitely never miss a pill. My thoughts now believe that if you truly feel like the implant is a better choice for you, then good. Do it, please! I honestly would never switch to the implant because I have no trust for something I have no idea is even working, but I know people can have a completely different effect to different types of medicine. The same way some people can get rid of pain with ibuprofen, but some only can with Tylenol. If you honestly don't think you can remember a pill or the pill is not working for you, then maybe the implant is the right choice for you.
