The Impeachment Playlist

A fun list of songs to bid the President adieu.

Before I officially begin, regardless of how you feel about the current President of the United States, this is all in jest.

With the growing fervor about potentially having the President impeached, I thought it'd be a fun time to highlight some songs to wish him a fond farewell. Use these songs to build your own “Peace Out Mr. President” playlist.

Carly Simon - You're So Vain

Among all of the outrageous things the President has said, his belief that he's been doing an exceptional job is astounding and he certainly has a very high opinion of himself.

“Well, you're where you should be all the time /And when you're not, you're with some underworld spy.” Those lyrics could apply quite well to the whole controversy surrounding the meetings with Russia, don't you think?

M People – Movin’ on Up

“Just who do you think you are? / Stop actin’ like some kind of star” seethes lead singer Heather Small in this 1994 hit. Besides being vain, there is little doubt that the President still holds onto his status as an adored celebrity...of sorts.

Ray Charles - Hit the Road Jack

This one succinctly captures the sentiment of many people’s feelings towards the Commander-in-Chief.

Basement Jaxx – Where’s Your Head at

No matter how well-intentioned they may or may not be, some of the stuff that’s come out of the President’s mouth regarding his sentiments towards other cultures/religions/nationalities haven’t won him favor with other countries. “You turn the world away from you / Where’s your head at, you don’t make it easy on yourself”. Whether the guy says some of the things he says for the sole purpose of creating a reaction or whether he genuinely believes it, his bold statements have generally lost him favor.

Stereo MC’s – Connected

This song could be interpreted as the importance of gaining insight and being less ignorant. “But if your mind’s neglected / Stumble you might fall” could apply to the President’s demonstrated lack of knowledge about many topics.

Tupac Shakur - Changes

We all know the President has developed a reputation for being something of a xenophobe. His promise to erect a massive wall to block Mexicans from entering the country only reinforces that, if he does get impeached, he might want to give this insightful tune from the late rapper a listen.

Lesley Gore - It’s My Party

Saturday Night Live has used the President as comedic material several times now, and it’s become almost a tradition to read his negative tweets about it the following day. With all the whining about being parodied, this classic tune might just apply perfectly to him.

Ugly Kid Joe - Everything About You

If you really want to throw in a song expressing how you feel without beating around the bush, this spells it out without any kind of subtlety.

Again, this is all in good fun and not meant to be a serious political opinion of any sort. What are some of your suggestions? Feel free to add your own favorites in the comments!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
