Leaving home is scary when you have to head towards an unknown place. A place that is supposed to protect you from the home you used to know, which now is being destroyed by war, poverty, and hunger. This is the place you know you can die within the next five years. You know as a kid your future is nothing.
You just hope every second that you and your parents will continue to see each other every night.
Going out to buy essential items. Buying toilet paper at night is a scary situation. You fear of being robbed while out in the city or that your home could be broken into, which is what happened. Glass was spread throughout your living and kitchen floor. Your parents decided it was unsafe in your home city and anywhere in your home country.
The only home you knew.
Your family decided to leave home for safety for the opportunity to actually live and know life would be a better reality. Yet, you would enter the unknown. You would leave your language, your traditions, your education, your house that your family fought for.
You would enter a new place to become nothing, just to be able to live.
As you headed into the new land. You were separated from your parents. Your body was taken over by the hands of someone else. You would lose the touch of your parents. The intensity of your body took over. You were traumatized once again. You would no longer know if your parents were safe or alive. This separation was worse than the danger you faced in your home country. It was a separation of your own body.
The only home you carry with you at all times.
