Last Friday, June 23, Imagine Dragons released their new album, Evolve.
The album's approaching release date was announced nearly seven weeks earlier, on May 9. Needless to say, fans have been impatiently awaiting its arrival.
Evolve is the third studio album by the American rock band, and it contains 11 songs. The album has the band's latest material since the release of their second studio album Smoke + Mirrors.
This album was promoted with two singles: "Believer" and "Thunder."
Appropriately enough, the band's music style and song content have evolved since their last album release.
This album takes a much more inclusive approach to reaching their fans. Though the album is classified as "Alternative/Indie," there are several songs that I would consider Pop, Rock, and even Electronic. This combination of genres hasn't been seen on any of the band's previous albums.
This album also has a much milder tone, when compared to their previous works. Their dark, depressive songs have slowed and now have a more romantic edge.
Another surprise was the addition of layered voices and music in several songs on this album. The attention to the melody across the entire album is simply phenomenal. This can especially be heard in "I Don't Know Why."
Thankfully, one thing that hasn't changed is the passionate and powerful vocals of lead singer Dan Reynolds. Reynolds' talent is highlighted in all eleven songs, especially "Believer."
Here are a few promising reviews from Google Play Music users:
The band also released the dates for their subsequent tour for this album. The tour will kick off in September in Arizona and end in November in California. They will be performing at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte on November 8.
The full list of tour destinations and dates can be found on the band's website here. Evolve can be previewed and purchased on Google Play Music and iTunes, and it can be purchased on the band's website.
