Experts say in 21 days a person can develop a habit. Good or bad, after 3 weeks of repetitive behavior, a routine has begun. There are several reasons to pick up a new habit; sometimes it is because whatever the long held habit has been, it is no longer beneficial. Just one evening of listening to the local and world news made me realize it may be time to initiate new ways. New ways of treating each other that lead to peaceful coexistence. It seems in our efforts to become more politically correct, we have become more sensitive and reactive. It is time for a 21 day Imagine Challenge.
John Lennon, an English singer/songwriter who was a co-founder of 'The Beatles', wrote the song Imagine. The song encourages its audience to imagine a world without any reason to fight; a world where everyone has enough of what they need to survive, and no one finds a reason to hurt anyone. As the song states “imagine all the people living for today”. If for 21 days, enough people listened to the song Imagine on the way to school or work, or before whatever their obligations of the day began, consider the change that could bring about.
Instead of hearing about the latest hostage, bombing or murder of innocent people, the first thing to ponder would be the song Imagine. Beginning the day with a mindset of creating a form of Utopia, even if it is only for the time it takes for the song to play, could plant a seed in the minds of everyone who listened to it. And that is what creates change. Take the focus off of the things people most commonly want to fight over, and we could be left with today. Start the change…start the 21 day Imagine Challenge and begin a habit that start each day with a positive focus.
Imagine by John Lennon
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today... Aha-ah...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace... You, ..
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world... You, ..
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
