Why I Still Love Disney In My 20s

You're never too old to wish upon a star.

If you know me at all you know that I love Disney. I mean, come on, who doesn't?

Disney has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I'm 99.99999999% sure that I'm a Disney princess. To this day family and friends associate Disney with me, especially Ariel. (She's my favorite.) When I was little I would pretend that my rocking chair was the big rock that Ariel was on when the waves crashed on it and I would sing at the top of my lungs "PART OF YOUR WOOOOOORRRRLLLLLDDDDD!"

I even had my own Chip cup, a Dalmatian stuffed animal, and a Simba stuffed animal. Trust me I can go on and on, but I'll spare you.

I make sure that whenever Disney On Ice comes to my city that I'm there. A few years ago I took my baby brother and cousin and seeing their faces light up when the characters came out was adorable. But I'm pretty sure I was more excited than they were.

Oh, and you can't forget the snow cones!

Disney is something that never gets old. Back in the day I never really realized the deep messages that the movies portrayed. When I was little 'ole me I loved how everything was so magical, happy, full of songs and love, and how everyone lived happily ever after. (Even after the death of Mufasa, but that's besides the point.) I still do, but it strikes a different chord within me now. So many life lessons can be learned from the movies if you watch them today.

I truly believe that we all are fighting our own battles... But with trust, faith, and pixie dust we can surpass it all. Disney has a way of making me feel like I'm not alone. It gives me a sense of magic and my own happily ever after. Disney reminds me that love is magical and that someday my prince will come. (See what I did there?)I've been to Disney 3 times. I'd be lying if I said that each visit wasn't as magical as the last. Going to Disney World is something I recommend that everyone put on their bucket list. It truly is a magical experience, regardless of your age. One of my favorite parts of going to Disney is meeting the characters. I fan girl every time I meet Ariel.

I wish I could thank Walt Disney himself for coming up with his idea... It all started with a mouse.

Disney reassures me that it's okay to be myself. Here I am, a 20-something, in love with all things Disney. Do I care what you think? Nope. Disney is a part of who I am. Hakuna matata is my motto. I gladly wear my Ariel shirts and sing 'Let it Go' at the top of my lungs.

I know for a fact that my love for Disney will never ever cease. I know that one day I will be that mom who plans a vacation to Disney for her kids but in reality it'll be for me.

Like I always say, you're never too old for Disney.

P.S. I can't wait for Moana.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
