Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for not only the big and little things in your life, but also what those things provide you. My sorority has gifted me with some of the stuff I will forever be grateful for…
1. The extension to my family
My “sisters” are the most genuine and sincere people. They are people I know I can come to at any time with anything. They are my mentors in all things college, my tutors for the impossible classes, my listeners, my shoulders to cry on, my distraction from all things stressful, my rocks for when I need grounding, and my people when I just need a hug.
2. A Place to Call Home
Hours away from the place I grew up in, homesickness often sinks in and I long for the comfort of my home. Thankfully, Theta is much closer and gives me the same sense of tranquility and serenity.
3. Meals
The food itself is a blessing, but the conversations held with the people next to me during the meals is what I’m most thankful for. Even if it is for the short amount of time it takes us to eat, I am distracted from everything outside the dining room. Time is stopped and the only thing that matters are the girls I’m with and the dialogue we’re engaged in.
4. A Sense of Belonging
On a campus of over 24,000 it’s easy to get lost in the crowd and feel lost. I may not know all of my sisters on a deep and personal level, but regardless they all make me feel like I am where I am meant to be. They make me feel loved and cherished.
5. Pure Joy and Laughter
They make the bad days good, and the good days better. Never do I leave without a smile on my face and a fire burning in my heart.
6. My Big
She is everything I’ve always wanted in a friend/sister/mentor. How she puts up with me I have yet to find out, but I am ever so glad she does because she may just be my {big}gest blessing.
With everything I have been so blessed with, I am especially thankful for Kappa Alpha Theta and all it has given me.
