I'm So Happy to be Me

I am full of many faults. We are all innately flawed human beings, and for the absolute majority of my life, I let this fact consume me. It is important to grow, and it is important to constantly work on the things about yourself that are not so good. But today I am going to take a break from that, and I am going to focus on why I am so happy to be me, flaws and all. Even though I'm not very good at doing crafty things, I still have really good taste. I hated the way that my hair laid when I cut it to my shoulders a few years ago, but I'm so excited because it is growing back quickly. It isn't quite where I want it to be yet, but it already hangs halfway down my back, and I am so impressed by my hairs ability to do exactly what I hope for it to do. I never have been the best at math and science, but I could write essay after essay and never once get tired of writing. I'm not very good at leaving a good impression on someone right away, but when people are patient with me, I am so lovable! I am not super clever, but I still can make people laugh. I didn't get the job that I really wanted last Spring, but I got an even better one that I will be starting in the Fall which goes to show that things really do end up working out for me, even when I become discouraged. I am goal oriented and driven to the point that it can annoy others, but I am grateful for these traits because it means that I am a hard worker. I am one of those weirdos that loves vegetables just as much as fruit, which (almost) cancels out that I love junk food as well. I always like to try new things, and I am rarely ever stuck in my ways. I'm nearly always caring and observant, and I love to work with people. Even though I dislike that I am extremely shy, I absolutely love being introverted. Even though I am a sinner by default, I love being His daughter, and I know that He loves me right back. I love that I am goofy. I don't always love the gap between two of my teeth, but I love that my smile is big and loose. I love that I ineract easily with cats and dogs, and I love that they almost always enjoy interacting with me too. I love that I like to read and that I like to take pictures too. I have a wide set of interests, and I always see a lot of good in other people. The point is, even though I am flawed and should be working on my flaws, it is really important to recognize that I am a very special and good person too. Sometimes I don't take enough time to give myself credit. When I sit down and think about what I love about myself, it makes it easier to approach the things that I don't like with a level head. I'm so happy that I am me and I am becoming the person that I am, and I really hope that you feel the same way about yourself!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
