Yup, you read that right. I’m about to be a college graduate and coffee was one thing I didn’t need to help me get through these crazy four years. Yes, I have tried to make myself like coffee but after just one sip, I couldn’t take it. I have even tried tea and still the same effect. Honestly, I really don’t understand how people are addicted to it and have 5 cups a day.
I’ve never liked it from the beginning
Growing up, my dad was the only coffee drinker in our house and when he first got his coffeemaker when I was a kid, I woke up to the smell of burnt coffee almost every morning. This could be a reason why I’ve been so turned-off by coffee.
Coffee is like liquid gold for fashion majors
Fashion majors take over campus and spend hours working on projects. I’m pretty sure placing a Starbucks next to Rockwell was probably the best idea Kent has ever had, but whenever I go there I order a hot chocolate usually.
It doesn’t matter what brand, I still don’t like it
Between Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, even local places, like Tree City or Scribbles, I still don’t understand everyone’s obsession with coffee.
I prefer taking naps
Sure, this isn’t for everyone, but when people ask me how I get through a busy semester without coffee, I simply answer with naps. Yes, it can be time consuming but I love my sleep. Whoever said “I’ll sleep when I’m dead” is surely missing out.
Meeting people for Coffee becomes awkward
Whenever someone from class, a date, whatever asks to meet up for coffee I tend to say yes but in the back of my mind I’m thinking about how awkward it’s going to be when they order coffee and I either don’t order anything or hot chocolate.
But after years of not liking coffee, I finally found something that I can tolerate, even though my boyfriend tells me all the time that it isn’t real coffee.
But hey it’s a start. Maybe one day I will get on the coffee train and understand what everyone is talking about, but it’s baby steps!
