Warning: This is my pissed off article.

Normally, I have written articles that have been generic, or funny, and typically non-harmful to any of my friends or their opinions. I have not written to voice or “force” my opinion on anyone else, should they read any article I write. But this time, it’s different. Because I am tired of our culture diminishing life.

So this is a pro-life article.

If a fetus were a baby Bald Eagle, would you kill it? If you somehow sneaked inside an eagle's nest and killed the egg (not the baby- the egg) of a bald eagle, you would be facing jail time. But it was only an egg. It's only a fetus. Right?

Before I address the comments of those who support Planned Parenthood and believe in women’s rights to choose, here are some facts for you. Are you aware that Planned Parenthood targets low-income neighborhoods and impoverished situations, and that 1 in 3 African-American children have been aborted by Planned Parenthood, and that non-Hispanic black women have the highest abortion percentage of all groups (cdc.gov)? If you have been out from underneath a rock for the past two years, you will be no doubt familiar with the phrase “black lives matter” from the more liberal side of politics, as well as the somewhat weak response from the conservatives that “all lives matter.” But are you aware, #blacklivesmatter and #alllivesmatter people, that Planned Parenthood was founded by Margaret Sanger, a notorious racist, who referred to African-Americans as “weeds” and disabled children as “useless weeds?” ("Colored people are like human weeds and are to be exterminated," to be exact). 78 percent of Planned Parenthood clinics are in predominantly black neighborhoods. Blacks make up 12 percent of the population, but 35 percent of America's aborted babies are black. Where is the protest for those black lives, I ask you. No one is protesting the loss of those lives. If #blacklivesmatter and #alllivesmatter, then where is the outrage for these lost lives? You cannot support Planned Parenthood and claim that you support #blacklivesmatter. You can't.

Oh right, a fetus is not a life. It’s, what, tissue? Then why does Planned Parenthood abort prior to the mother having an ultrasound? Because 90 percent of mothers decide to keep their child once they hear the heartbeat and see movement. Research done by Tom Kerscher found that “the statistic is for 2010 and breaks down this way: The mobile units provided ultrasound images to 1,389 women; 613 were ‘abortion minded or abortion vulnerable’; and 533 of them, or 86.9 percent, ‘made a decision for life.’” (politifact.com). Almost 90 percent of women who were seriously considering abortion decided not to following an ultrasound. That's not nothing.

But this, this mentality that your bodies are your own, yes, I fully support that. Rape culture is very real and those who are using it need to be educated and need to stop. I have been cat-called before, and it made me feel the worst kind of vulnerability and self-consciousness and fear. I know that some of these pregnancies are a result of violence and terror. But the idea of life is missing from life. There should be celebration and joy in the gift of life. Countless couples want and yet cannot have children, and those who can and women who conceive should not condemn them before they have a chance. Even placing babies up for adoption is better than condemning them to death after conception. One statistic, taken from a year-after poll of 847 women who had an abortion, that 76 percent of women would not abort again if faced with an unwanted pregnancy (afterabortion.org), and the side effects of an abortion are most commonly regret, anger, guilt, shame, sense of loneliness, isolation, loss of self-confidence, insomnia or nightmares, relationship issues, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders, depression and anxiety. It is not a good or happy or empowering thing. If a woman becomes pregnant through unfortunate circumstances that are not her own choice, it becomes harder. And I’m not naïve, I know there are situations when an abortion feels like relief because it takes the weight away, and it eliminates the fear, the doubt and the problems of having a child. But it is still not right. And we should have better ways to care for women to keep their babies, and not have the societal pressure to abort children. We need more care and love in the world. Use your right to choose, and choose life.

Yes, this is the perspective of a straight white Christian female. And you can disagree. And you can think I’m ridiculous and condemning to my own sex for this belief. But I will not apologize for what I believe in. I’m tired of people being afraid to hide their opinions about things that matter. Take a stand, and do not apologize.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

Who could be a better friend than your own sister?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective.
