For many young girls, they dream of the day that their mothers finally allow them to wear makeup. They can't wait to put on that mascara to make their eyelashes longer or the moment when they can buy that red lipstick they've been dying to wear since they were five. After countless hours watching makeup tutorials until they can finally perfect the cat-eye look, you've been longing to have. If they go a day without putting makeup on their face, they say they feel "naked" without it.

For me, I never went through this phase. And still, haven't. And I'm OK with that.

Sure, there are special occasions where I put on a little mascara, and I don't care when my friends want to put a little on me for a night out, but it's not part of my daily routine. Of course, there are some days when I look in the mirror, and I don't love everything, but I'm not going to disguise myself with makeup. I have learned to love myself and all of my features that are unique to me.

There are times when I think I should start wearing makeup because that's what adults do. But then I think, no. Just because wearing makeup, doesn't make you more or less of an adult. Instead, it makes you more confident and proud of who you are.

Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of friends who choose to wear makeup every day, and their choice to do that is theirs. I won't judge them for wearing it because what they decide to do with their life is on them, not me.

What I wish to tell little girls is, it's ok if you don't want to wear makeup. No one should be pressuring you to do something you don't want to do. You are beautiful just the way you are, and people will love you for being you, and not someone trying to be like everyone else.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
