It's been over a year since I've moved back to the states. I was born in Chicago, and I got my fair share of living in the US before my family and I moved to Singapore. It hasn't even been more than a year yet, and this election has proved to me that every single thing that people said about the United States while I was in Asia, were right. Every single action that Barack Obama had taken in order for the citizens of the United States of America to live a life full of progression, has all been taken away by a narcissistic, sexist and OPENLY racist "human" being.
Being back in the US for over a year now, it has become harder and harder for me, along with a lot of other Muslims, to live in peace. We are surrounded by continued hatred for our religion and constant repression of our people. This country's stereotypes on all sorts of minorities have only increased over the past year, and the least I can say is that it isn't going to get any better.
After tonight's decisions, I am extremely disappointed in the actions of the American people and deeply hurt by what this country stands for. It sickens me to think that a person like Donald Trump would even be considered running for president, but more so it is extremely infuriating to call him the leader of this nation.
Those people who truly care for this country, are extremely scared. They are scared for themselves, for their friends, their families, but most importantly they are scared for the greater good of this country and more so shocked by the repulsive decisions that people have made tonight, using their own intellect and electing someone who will continue to repress, oppress and destroy humanity as we know it.
Not only has tonight made me lose hope. It has shown me the true colors of the United States of America. The place I grew up in, the place I used to proudly tell my friends in Asia that I was from, the place which has slipped away from us. America has become quiet. America has become desolate. America has NOT become great again.
