I'm Not Perfect

Who says you have to be perfect?

I'm Not Perfect
Science All

I’m not perfect. I don’t have perfect hair, the best complexion, or the prettiest eyes. I don’t have the most “Rockin’ Hot Bod”, eyebrows that are always “On Fleek” or a thigh gap. I’m not the skinniest or am I the curviest. I don’t have the perfect boyfriend or the perfect job. I don’t have the most fashionable clothes for this season, nor do I drive the fastest car. My phone is not the newest iPhone and I suck at contouring my makeup.

I don’t make all A’s on everything, I can’t speak seven different languages, and I can be rather ditzy at times. I don’t go to the most prestigious schools, nor do I have the voice of an angel and I am certainly not a chef. I don’t always know the right things to say and when I do, they sometimes come out a jumbled mess.

I get nervous. I get scared. I trust too much and sometimes never enough. I live with my heart on my sleeve. I don’t have the most confidence. I’m not the best at hiding my emotions and break down and cry way more than I should.

I sometimes get caught up more in gossiping about someone, than I do actually praying for them or helping them out. I even get my own image in my head and form opinions of others at times. Instead of trying to see them as God does, I can never seem to grasp the concept of “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all!”

But, all of these things are completely fine. I am human and so are you. I can waste my time trying to obtain and chase after all of these, missing my life, or I can be content with the place I am right now!

So no, I’m not perfect. I’m nowhere close, nor do I try to be! Only one person was perfect and that was Jesus! He came down and died for us to take away our sins, so in turn that we could spend eternity with him!

I don’t know about you, but to me, there is something even better than actually being perfect! The same God that created the stars and the moon, the oceans and the deserts, all the birds and the lions, even delicious ice cream - He looked at you and decided that the world needed one of you! That is better than being perfect ever was!

So next time something happens and you are feeling down and out about yourself, remember that God loves you and thought that you were just as great and beautiful as everything else in this wonderful world and he handpicked you to be in this very moment right now! So go on and be proud to be living your imperfect life, because it perfectly fits into his plan and that is perfect enough!

“He has made Everything Beautiful in his Time.” –Ecclesiastes 3:11

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
