America has been under the leadership of an elected president for well over two hundred years now. This official has the task of managing the country and ensuring its' well-being. This includes making sure America is safe on the inside as well as from the outside. As the years have passed, these presidents have all been sworn into office with different tasks and situations needing their attention across the country. The success of their presidencies was largely based on their ability to respond to what the country needed a solution.
Ultimately, being the president of the United States is a job for someone who can cater to the needs of America. With this years' presidential election, I am a little concerned. I am not into politics, but I am perfectly capable of distinguishing people who have presidential potential from people who should not even be considered a president of the United States. For those who do not know who I am talking about at this point, it's Donald Trump.
Donald Trump is most notably known for his financial wealth, which has been complemented by his skyscrapers in New York and Chicago, as well as the television series, "The Apprentice", which aired for numerous seasons. While these accomplishments are not easy, I want to make it very clear that financial positions and titles are not qualifications to be the leader of the United States.
I watched the Presidential Debate between Trump and Clinton and I honestly was not surprised at what I heard. Many will say that Trump gave his fair share of thoughts and ideas based on the questions and topics, and this is true. However, his expression of his thoughts and ideas alone was not enough to make them relevant or applicable to the topics. I watched Trump run around questions with points of accusation and engage in conversation that wasn't needed for a presidential debate. The problem here is that many people have allowed Trump to fill their heads with propaganda and lies because of the power of his money.
Money might be a powerful influence, but it cannot be given a presidential pin and sworn into office as our President. If the greatest asset you have to bring to serving the country is the fact that you have built "great structures", you are poorly mistaken. America should not be focused on the structures that are built in it, but the people that occupy and add value to these buildings every day. Once again, I am no politician nor am I into politics. However, I have enough sense to know that money and great structures will not be enough to serve America. This article is not meant to pass judgment on Trump because his success is not my concern. My concern is someone being sworn into office who does not have the first idea about what serving someone else means.
