There's a stigma with the phrase "i'm turning into my mother".
But I couldn't be happier about turning into a version of my mom, and here are the reasons why.
1. I try to do at least one good deed a day.
My mother sometimes goes out of her way to hold a door open for a stranger or lend a hand whenever possible. Makes your soul feel good.
2. I'm punny.
Like, repulsively punny.
3. I put things into perspective.
Whenever something tragic happens to a family friend, or even nationally, she says "when you think you're having a bad day.." This phrase makes me realize that my problems are small, and though they're still problems, they could always be worse.
4. Look good, feel good
Or look bad, feel better. Depends on the day.
I wasn't raised to be vain, but raised to look presentable whenever it's called for.
5. I "sing-talk"
My mom sings some phrases, and they're phrases like "where are my shooooes" or "do the dishes, pleeeaseee". I now sing-talk phrases that don't necessarily call for musical accompaniment. Makes things seem more special than they are🎶
6. I try to find the good in everything.
As long as the family is healthy and all of your limbs are in tact, life is good.
I just stubbed my toe on a chair. At least it was a pretty chair.
7. I laugh hard and laugh often.
My mother loves to make others laugh and she has the most contagious laugh.
I strive to be the funny one, and I owe that to my mother.
8. I try not to stress.
Worrying isn't productive, and takes away energy that could be used on so much more. My mother has a million and one things to do everyday, but she seems so carefree. HOW DO YOU DO IT, WOMAN.
9. I'm not growing up anytime soon.
My mother isn't a day over 30 (😉), and she still doesn't know what she's gonna be when she grows up. I think she should be a comedian/musician/life coach/President, but what she's doing now is perfect. She's my mom, and although it's a tough gig sometimes, she remains rad.
She is the epitome of a person who loves the life she lives and everyday brings her new adventures and opportunities that makes me more and more proud of becoming her.
