I am a guys gal and I am proud of it.
Urban Dictionary describes being a guys girl as 'That great girl who can just chill and be 'one of the guys.' She's into sports, beer, action flicks and doesn't give a damn what others think.
However, unlike the tomboy, she has her gang of girl mates who she shops with and does girly stuff.
I met my group of "guys" this past year while working at the bar. The bar has slowly became the best thing that ever happened to me.
I am not really sure how we got so lucky in getting some of the most genuine people that work there but we did. And it brought me my two best friends at K-State as well as my group of go-to guys.
I never really had a group of guys that I trusted in high school or who weren't just trying to get with me. It seems like once you get older you start to figure out that having friends of the opposite sex who are truly just your friends becomes one of your biggest saving grace's.
These guys are always down to go to Austin's Bar and Grill and grab some beer, or go to Royals games, or just sit around and do nothing.
You can sit there with no makeup on in your Nike shorts and you know that they don't give a single crap what you look like and that they want to actually be there with you.
Being called a guys gal was probably one the most interesting compliments I've ever received because in this generation most girls are looking at as being crazy and psycho. But I was described as being chill and laid back. I wanted to never that compliment go because I felt so much different than everyone else.
These guys probably have no idea I ever write or that I am writing about them, but they were the best thing that happened to me my Spring semester Junior year.
Thanks, boys, let's grab a beer.
