You know that one really political friend you have on Facebook? The one that always posts about stuff and is always quoting Fox News? Well, some poor girl from Georgia decided to speak her mind about the usage of the Confederate flag on coolers and she was met with the rallying cry of way too many rebel country sorority girls, and they all turned into that one Fox News-quoting friend.
Claws came out, southern drawls can be assumed, and well, some of our Panhellenic sisters probably just should have kept their mouths shut.
Here is the original post:
Personally, hats off to Kelly, I think she's totally right. I also grew up North of I-80, and like many Chicagoans I believe that anything south of there can be considered the South, so I have no love for the rebel flag.
And so with this simple, politically correct post on a crafting community page, a new Civil War started on the Cooler Connection Facebook page. The real instigator of this whole argument was not the original poster, no, it was Bekah. It's always Bekah
No, no, it was not. Cara thank you for trying, but it was too late. Also saying the absolute wrong thing is Alicia. Alicia, please tell me you're being sarcastic.
Please, please be sarcastic, because Katie thinks your serious.
We did have some politically correct thinkers, though.
And some history lessons...
Oh, and a poorly designed (and terribly misspelled) infographic about the history of the Confederate flag.
And some more of Bekah just not keeping her mouth shut.
Oh Bekah, indeed. What did bring the Cooler Connection community together was not the bond of Panhellenic sisterhood, not political opinions, but memes. The memes brought us together.
Please, ladies, chill out for the sake of Panhel, and stop painting literally controversial pictures on your things.
