Over these past few months, Illenium has been teasing fans with a peak into his latest album Awake. From his release of his collaboration with Griffyn and Daya titled "Feel Good" to most recently "Crawl Out Of Love" with Anika Wells, Illenium has been giving us a taste of what's to come, but without revealing the bigger picture.

Now that Awake is here, we can see the epic emotional rollercoaster that these singles have been brought together to tell. Awake is the epitome of melodic dubstep, marrying heartfelt lyrics with tantalizing euphoric synths and gut wrenching drops. While the bass still remains bold, the messages are heard louder, and the unique instrumentals are heightened with each song's mood.In an interview with Billboard, Illenium mentioned his influence of Blink 182's music and the inspiration pulled from their lullaby-esque, sad rock vibes.

While the album is beautifully navigated from start to finish, you can also listen to each track as a stand alone and still feel its musical impact. Illenium has incorporated a multitude of talented vocalists such as Annika Wells, Nevve, and Ember Island to help bring each song to life. I personally have listened to this whole album on loop and haven't been able to pull myself away from it. It certainly has me "Awake" and I've got my ear on things to come from Illenium.

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
