1. The love/hate relationship with the old gym.
It had a unique style and feeling to it which made any student feel at home; however, mopping it at 6 AM before practice was something we all could do without.
2. Summer dress code was the best dress code
Everyone had a little piece of themselves shining through as they walked around the halls in their favorite tennis shoes.
3. But uniform hoodies were a close second, for sure
Who doesn't love wearing a hoodie all day?
4. Dress Down Days were the second best days at school
You got to wear whatever you wanted (as long as if followed dress code of course) and had at least 5 minutes added to your time getting ready in the morning because you actually had to pick something out.
5. Fat Tuesday was and still is THE BEST day ever
Not only did we get to eat PANCAKES during school but we got to eat with a St. Mary's grade school student. It was so much fun and so adorable to help our little friends out.
6. Being amazed that Miss Patty knew your lunch number by heart
I loved to go and talk to Miss Patty. She was always so sweet and helpful no matter what you needed help with!
7. The week we got to make Jesse Tree Ornaments was so lit
Mrs. Dupont's room might never truly be relieved of all the glitter and pieces of paper we destroyed each year to make the perfect ornaments.
8. Forgetting that public schools don't pray everyday like we do
Every morning assembly, we would have morning prayer and it was a great start to the day. Having the freedom to profess our faith amongst each other allowed us to create and even more intense relationship with our fellow student body.
9. Getting the "God loves us for free" jokes was always so annoying
We get it, you aren't original.
10. Always getting longer breaks than public schools because you made up your snow days
Nothing was quite as fun as being able to go to the pools while everyone else was in school. It was pretty relaxing if I do say so myself.
11. Everyone knew everyone, we were ND family.
At every sporting event or just in life, Notre Dame students stuck together. We had each others backs no matter what and it was so comforting to have 100+ people on your side. Even to this day, if someone were to try and mess with a classmate of mine, I would stand up for them.
12. Senior trip was stressful but so many great stories came from it
Nothing like a trip to NYC with 30 of your classmates who you argue with like brothers and sisters. Thank you for the memories!
13. The class size is perfect
I personally graduated with around 30 kids in my class. I knew each and everyone of them and their families. Classes were like that, close-knit. Although you might not have realized it then, the graduating classes were family.
