If you give the south a snow day, they are most likely going to freak out! In a time honored tradition, they will all call out of work the day before the first flake falls. If you give the south a snow day, they will run to the grocery store in panic and buy enough bread and milk to feed an army even if their families don't like milk. It's just what they do.
Once the southern population is well stocked with milk and bread, the panic continues as they head home to gather every flashlight and/or candlestick. A half inch of snow could bring major power outages, don't ya know?!
After smart southerners are settled in their homes with every supply imaginable, parents will turn on Channel 4 News to assess the possible damage they'll be receiving, while children will stake out in front of windows and doors waiting for the glorious frozen wonderland. The madness is paused when it's time for bed, but don't be fooled, it's far from over.
If you give the south a snow day, they will wake up and chaos will resume. Entire families will huddle around televisions and wait for the banner on the bottom of the screen to say "______ County Schools Closed". When their hopes have been confirmed, the fun begins. Fathers will rush to old sheds to fire up the old four wheeler and search for some rope. Children will rummage around looking for an inner tube, a truck hood, or even an old piece of metal- anything that might work as a sled to hook up behind the ATV.
If you give the south snow day, they will obviously build a snowman... or try to. Most of the time, the snowmen end up headless, because let's be honest, there is never enough snow in the south to build a three-tiered man. It's more of like a snow baby composed of muddy snow and grass, but snow is so rare that southern people don't care!
If you give the south a snow day, it will most likely end with a good pot of chili and hot chocolate. Pictures of snow covered patio furniture will be plastered on Facebook as well as statuses complaining about how people can't drive. It's all part of the southern snow experience- enjoy it, because it won't last long!
