If You Give A College Kid A Snow Day

College students love snow days, too!

If You Give A College Kid A Snow Day

Even though I go to school in Wisconsin and have lived here all my life, I've only experienced a handful of snow days. As a child, it always made me jealous when other schools near mine got snow days and we didn't. And honestly not much has changed, even in college. This past week, my school miraculously had a snow day, which I was surprised but thrilled about. I'm sure most of my fellow students had the same feelings. But we are not children anymore. So what really happens when you give a college student a snow day?

If you give a college kid a snow day, you shouldn't expect them to spend the whole day inside. The weather may be too harsh to walk or drive to class, but that won't stop them from going outside and enjoying the winter wonderland. They will get their friends and have snowball fights, build forts, and snowmen. Don't be surprised by the amount of snowmen lining the streets the next day. It's just like when they were a kid, and that's the fun part.

If you give a college kid a snow day, they may instead decide to be more studious. They may spend the day catching up on homework, finishing a paper that's due, or work ahead on a project. They may envy those who have the time to play outside in the snow, but they know that focusing on their work will help them in the long run.

If you give a college kid a snow day, they might be that one person in the grocery store or mall. They might risk the weather and embrace the wonderfulness that comes in shopping when no one else is around. They can spend as much time as they want there and bring a friend or two to share in the fun. The workers may not like it since they can't enjoy the snow day too, but the college student will gladly take the opportunity.

If you give a college kid a snow day, they may choose to stay inside, but not for homework. They may choose to stay in their warm bed and have a relaxing day. This calls for Netflix, junk food, or maybe even some wine. They may invite friends over for a movie or TV marathon and spend the day lounging on the couch. They may skip watching movies all together and find that sleeping in or taking a long nap is the right way to spend the day.

So, you see, there are many things a college kid can do with a snow day. It can involve being outside in the snow or watching it from inside under some blankets. But if a college kid ever does get a snow day, which tends to be quite rare, you know that they will be spending it exactly how they want to.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
