If You Aren't living To Embarrass Yourself, Why Are You Living At All?

Now, for those of you who know me personally, you know my laugh is very distinctive and you also know that I am laughing all the time. Whether I'm laughing at something really stupid or something hysterically funny, I am just always laughing. I mean, what isn't there to like about it? Laughing decreases stress, increases immune systems, releases those great feel good chemicals which make us happy, and even just after fifteen minutes of laughing a day, it can burn forty calories. Honestly, why wouldn't you like laughing?

If there is one thing I love more than laughing, it's making others laugh. Whether I am intentionally making others laugh, or accidentally embarrassing myself causing others to laugh, I feel as though I am accomplishing something extremely important.

So, you're probably wondering, what do I mean by 'If you are not embarrassing yourself why are you living at all?' Well let me tell you. I live to embarrass myself and I honestly think it makes life so much better. If you are able to go on about your day owning up to all those embarrassing moments, then it simply makes life a lot easier and more care free. Let me inform you all that this is coming from the girl who bought an inflatable dinosaur costume to run around in for fun, from the girl who bought Heelys (yes, I am making them happen again), and the girl who's roommate bought her a squirrel mask to run around and chase squirrels in just cause she understands how weird I am.

Own up to those embarrassing moments because it makes you, well you. I know all my moments certainly made me into the person I am. For example, when I was six, my mother, like most mothers, put me into ballet and I mortified her when I got my head stuck between the bar and mirror during the ballet recital. Long story short, I was asked to leave the dance company and my mother knew in that moment it was going to be a long childhood, and let me tell you it was, but in the best way possible.

As a freshman in college, I see how important it is to have fun. Now I don't mean partying fun, I'm talking about making those little moments count where you forget all the stress you're going through. I do my best to make sure to keep my friends happy and stress free and by owning up to my embarrassing moments in life and trust me, I am doing just that. Another example is early in the school year while studying in the library with a group of people, I laughed so hard my iced coffee shot straight out of my nose. This happened not once, but twice. Of course in the moment I was mortified and totally embarrassed, but looking back I think it is honestly so funny, which is how every embarrassing moment should be.

If you enjoy laughing as much as I do, then go out with your friends and return the favor by making them laugh just as hard as they make you laugh. Now am I saying you need to go out and buy an inflatable dinosaur costume, Heelys, and a squirrel mask? Of course not, I mean unless you want to! What I am saying is don't be afraid of owning up to the funny moments in life and use them to make people laugh.

Be care free, be happy, don't be afraid to talk about those moments you swore you'd never speak of again and just let go. If you're constantly worried about what others are thinking of you, then are you really living life to its fullest? Embarrassment is apart if life so own it, express it, and love it.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
