Tis the season to bake and watch the snow fall and watch Christmas movies and drink hot cocoa.

We're all off for winter break so let this be the last time you think of anything relating to school in 2017.

Happy Holidays!

1. Social Sciences (psychology, sociology, etc.)

Crinkle Cookies - These cookies almost look like a brain so this is totally fitting for degrees that study people and their thoughts and interactions with others.

2. Education

Classic Cut-Out Sugar Cookies because they shape the children they work with into the adults will be someday.

3. Nursing

Kiss Cookies - These are usually pretty uniform (like nursing education) but you can use different flavors of kisses just like there are different areas for nurses to work or all the fun printed scrubs, you pick.

4. Social Work

Thumbprint cookies - Social workers are in the business of helping people in many different ways like the many different flavored fillings these cookies can have, but the common factor is the way they leave their mark on clients like the mark on each cookie.

5. Business/Administration

Christmas Wreaths - You can mold these cookies to be a wreath or any other shape you'd like, just like the many different ways one can use a degree in Business or Administration.

6. Accounting

Gingerbread (Wo)Men - just like accountants most people usually only eat (use) this cookie (profession) during one season out of the year, Christmas (tax time).

7. Arts (theatre, art, music, creative writing, etc.)

No Bake Cookies - These cookies seem really easy to make but if you don't get the ratios just right they won't set and you'll have a mess. If you don't have the talent to start paired with the hard work it takes to make it in the business you too might end up a mess.

8. English/Literature

Chocolate Chip - A classic beloved by all, similar to the classic novels. No one can say they've never had a chocolate chip cookie just like none of us can say we got out of reading The Scarlet Letter.

9. Political Science

Oatmeal raisin - not a lot of people like them and they have a stigma for being boring, but they are actually a bomb and important cookie if you just gave them a chance.

10. Science/Technology

Everything or Monster Cookies - There are so many different disciplines and fields that go along with science and technology degrees. Maybe it's research, maybe it's education, maybe it's tech. Endless possibilities and ingredients.

11. Hospitality

Molasses Cookies - Warm and rich just like grandma used to make. Traditional, but fresh. These are all ingredients the hospitality industry uses to make their guests or clients feel at home.

12. Undecided

Snickerdoodles - We all love them, but eventually we have to move on to the more festive cookies to celebrate the holidays, just like we have to move on pick a major.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
