If Tulane Fraternities Were Singers

Tulane is lucky to have some fantastic fraternities on campus. There is no doubt that each fraternity has it's own collective personality and characteristics. If the personality of each fraternity were to be embodied by a singer... who would they be?

Sigma Phi Epsilon aka Sig Ep - One Direction

Although the boys of Sig Ep may have better bodies than the members of One Direction, Sig Ep is 1D because girls from every corner of campus swoon for Sig Ep guys. When a freshman gets a bid to Sig Ep, his social 'fame' skyrockets, just like the members of One Direction rose to fame when the band was formed. The band and frat are both a big hit with the ladies but we all know what boys like to say about both this boy band and his fraternity.....

Kappa Alpha Order aka KA - Michael Jackson

The southern gentlemen of KA are Michael Jackson because he had an extremely controversial career, just like the bulk of controversy that KA has been causing on Tulane's campus lately. Just like MJ, KA will always have some diehard fans and some haters. When it comes down to it, Michael Jackson will always be remembered as the king of pop and the boys of KA are the kings of Tulane. His music rocks just like KA's house, parties and boys.

Zeta Psi - Wiz Khalifa

Zeta Psi is Wiz Khalifa because everyone would have a great time chilling with Wiz, just like they do with the boys of Zeta Psi. The Zeta Psi guys are some of the most down to earth and nicest guys on Tulane's campus. Just like Wiz's music is great to have on while you're having fun with your homies, Zeta Psi guys always add great vibes to any gathering.

Sigma Chi aka Sig Chi - Drake

Sig Chi is Drake because everyone can find a Drake song that they identify with, just like everyone has at least one (but usually many) Sigma Chis that they absolutely love. There will always be a Drake song near the top of the charts, just like there will always be Sig Chi events that everyone wants to go to at Tulane. Another commonality between the boys of Sig Chi and Drake is that they're so caring and nice. That's why any girl would be happy to have a Sig Chi make her hotline bling.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon aka SAE - Miley Cyrus

SAE is Miley because she is so crazy but so fun. SAE knows how to throw a party like no other fraternity at Tulane. The boys of SAE go hard just like Miley does. At this point in her career, Miley Cyrus loves to be the center of attention and push everything to the limit. This is what the boys of SAE do, and that's what makes them the most fun fraternity on campus.

Kappa Sigma aka Kappa Sig - Kanye West

Let's be honest here... Kanye West is kind of a jerk. BUT, he's somehow endearing nonetheless. His personality may be an acquired taste, but his music is undeniably good. Tulane's Kappa Sig is Kanye because they're the lovable jerks on campus. Their parties are usually pretty great.

Delta Tau Delta aka DTD - Nickelback

Sorry DTD, but y'all are Nickelback. Tulane dads always tell stories about DTD being top frat back in the day. Nickelback was very popular in the past but they're now infamous for different reasons.

Zeta Beta Tau aka ZBT - Adam Sandler

ZBT is Adam Sandler because he's likable, super funny and will always have tons of fans. ZBT is the go-to frat for so many girls on campus. Their parties are always fun, just like Adam Sandler's movies are always funny. You may be asking yourself why Adam Sandler is on this list, because he's an actor, not a singer. However, Adam Sandler has one song, just like ZBT has one type of guy: Jewish.

Alpha Epsilon Pi aka AEPi - Maroon 5

AEPi is Maroon 5 because they're a great fraternity but not always in the limelight. AEPi has cool guys but they don't throw huge parties or get talked about as much as many of the other fraternities at Tulane. They're definitely underrated, just like Maroon 5. Maroon 5's lead singer, Adam Levine, was named the Sexiest Man Alive by People Magazine in 2013. Some of the boys of AEPi could surely be in the running for this title.

Phi Gamma Delta aka Fiji - Taylor Swift

Fiji boys have been known to occasionally shed some teardrops on their guitars, just like T Swift. But there's something charming about sensitive guys, which is proven by Tulane girls because Fiji parties and boys are very well liked. Just like Taylor Swift tops the charts, Fiji boys hit all the right notes by being fun to party with, gentlemanly, and good looking.

Phi Kappa Sigma aka Phi Kap - 5ive

5ive is one of the many forgotten boybands of the 90's. They definitely had potential but weren't quite able to make it big. As you can see in the picture above, the boys of 5ive look like such nice guys, just like the boys in Phi Kap at Tulane.

Sigma Alpha Mu aka Sammy - David Archuleta

If you were as into American Idol in 2007 as I was, you know that David Archuleta was the runner-up in the seventh season. Since he was the runner-up, he was almost a signed artist, but isn't. Sammy at Tulane is almost a fraternity... but not quite. Sorry Sammy boys! On the bright side, most of y'all are really good looking, just like David Archuleta.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
