The presidential race is seriously heating up as we near november. There are a lot of issues with all four candidates, but the Donald is obviously the worst. Being an American Muslim women, a lot of things will change for me. How do I know this? Right now he is simply the Republican Nominee and a lot of things have changed for me. So here are four of the most likely things that will to happen should DT grace us with his presidency:
1. Laws or bans against Muslims
Donald Trump has been promoting a hatred towards Muslims since he first announced his campaign. He has been suggesting this such as making all Muslims living in this country wear a tag, or banning any Muslims from entering this country. Now I am not completely unaware of how the government works, I know that it has to go through congress and such but I don't have much faith in them either...
2. Islamaphobia Gone Wild
There has always been a lot of Islamaphobia in this country, especially since 9/11. With the Donald all over the media every single day oozing hate out of his pores, the public has become a little more bold. There have been many attacks on Muslims walking in the streets, such as the Imam that got shot in New York or the Muslim women who's clothing was set ablaze. These things keep happening and they are not as far away as you think. I have been profiled and discriminated against right here in Springfield, I'm lucky all thats been thrown at me are words.
3. Shutting down of Masjids
Masjids across the nation will be shut down because of the hate speech. Either the government will close them down, claiming something like they're in cahoots with ISIS, or the masjids will shut down becuase of threats from the general public. Our own Islamic Center of Springfield was vandalized a short while back, so much so that it required about $15,700 in repairs.
4. Discrimination Against Refugees/Immigrants
Like I said before, The Donald wants to ban all Muslims from entering this counrty, including refugees. A lot of citizens, whether they agree with the majority of Trumps policies or not, do not argue against this one. What amuses me is that the same people who don't want refugees in this country can be found talking about moving to Canada should Trump get elected as Commander in Chief.
So there you have it my friends. It's a troublesome perdicament to say the least.
