Maybe it's just me, but I have always believed that dating has always been better in movies and in the past. I understand that as times change so do certain traditions and customs, but nowadays modern day dating just seems too complicated. Here are the harsh truths that you have to expect and deal with when it comes to dating in this day and age.
Romance is dead.
When is the last time someone took you out on a real date? Nowadays, it seems as if you can't go out with someone without them being on their phone majority of the time and the date ultimately ending in a hook up.
We only communicate via phone.
It's so easy for us to get caught up in technology that we often times forget to appreciate the importance of having a meaningful face to face conversations with people. Although it may be easy to want to naturally do most of your communicating via texting, we establish less personal connections this way.
We go through people like we go through iPhone chargers.
We hope to find 'the one' based off of a few swipes and profile pictures. After sending a few messages you judge them based off a few filters instead of actually going out and getting to know someone.
We don't want to show feelings.
Nowadays it seems as if everyone is trying their best to be 'heartless'. We put on this mask pretending to be someone we are not, with hopes of being the person that someone may want. We act as if we don't care about things and try to avoid getting hurt at all costs.
We don't know how to love.
We do this thing where we go back and forth with one person, and often times jump from person to person all because we aren't sure on what we want. We play games and end up hurting someone. Instead of handling it, we move on to someone else with no regards towards the people we may have hurt.
We only stick around for the good parts of the relationship.
We're only here for the better parts of the relationship, not the worse parts. We expect things to always be easy and happy. When our relationships start to head south we end them just as quickly as we entered them.
