In A Perfect World

Sometimes when you have a bad day it is easy to wish a lot of things in your life were different. A lot of times you get hard on yourself and wish that the world was a little "less-sucky". So here's what life would maybe seem like in a perfect world.

In a perfect world you would get out of bed every morning and not look like you were hit by a truck. You would wake up with straight hair and a fresh complexion like a Disney Princess. You could roll out of bed and throw on a sweater and pump some T-Swift and just be flawless.

The world isn't perfect.

In a perfect world you could eat all the guac and chips you wanted and never gain a pound. You could eat Taco Bell, McDonald's, and wings all in a day and never get fat--or a tummy ache.

The world isn't perfect.

In a perfect world he would message you back like it was his job. He'd know you were interested and not leave you on read every single night. You would be loved so much and you'd be on top of the world. He'd compliment you and take you out on Fridays. He would kiss your forehead just because he loves you.

The world isn't perfect.

In a perfect world no one would ever leave you. Your best friend wouldn't decide that the world no longer needs them. That boy you talked to for 3 months wouldn't all of a sudden decide that you are no longer relevant. That girls dad wouldn't have walked out on the family when she was starting high school.

The world isn't a perfect place.

So what though? We all know the life can suck sometimes and it would be nice for things to be 100% perfect but how fun would that be?

If something would have been just slightly different from what it is now, your life would be so much different. And it would have changed your perfectly imperfect self.

In this imperfect world you wake up every morning with a lion's mane of hair, a shiny face, and morning breath. But someday someone will love you even more when you look that way.

You make the world perfectly imperfect.

In this imperfect world you ate a whole bag of potato chips and maybe had McDonald's twice today. Your little bit of extra chunk only makes your curvy jeans look that much better for date night right? And besides--you'll workout tomorrow... Or the next day.

You make the world perfectly imperfect.

In this imperfect world he left you on read last night when you finally confessed your feelings. You mope around for a month or so and finally move on, only then do you find someone new who understands all your awkwardness and loves it.

You make the world perfectly imperfect.

In this imperfect world they left you. They left you alone crying in the bathroom at 2 A.M. They left you at the football field wondering how the last 6 months meant absolutely nothing. They left you and the rest of your family to figure out life without them. But eventually you move on and eventually you turn into a stronger person because of it.

You make the world perfectly imperfect.

You in your entirety make up an amazing and imperfect human being and there will never be anyone else quite like you. So the next time you wish life were working out a little bit better, just remember that the world is not perfect, and that's okay. It doesn't have to be.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
