If you've never seen half of these shows, you should re-evaluate your life choices! Everybody loves shows like Sex and the City, Friends, Seinfeld, and Full House, but let's talk about some better classics. Sure, shows like Friends are also classics, but these 17 shows might surprise you with their wit and morals.
1. "The Andy Griffith Show"
(1960 - 1968)
Starring: Andy Griffith, Don Knotts, Ron Howard, and Frances Bavier
This classic was one of the first shows I saw as a kid. Although I can't whistle anymore, I can still sing the theme song to the "Andy Griffith Show" by heart!
2. "I Love Lucy"
(1951 - 1957)
Starring: Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance, and William Frawley
I spent an entire summer watching nearly every episode of "I Love Lucy" ! Now, let me tell you, "Hollywood At Last" is the best episode. Who doesn't love guest star appearances by actors like William Holden?
3. "The Munsters"
(1964 - 1966)
Starring: Fred Gwynne, Yvonne de Carlo, Al Lewis, Butch Patrick, and Pat Priest
TV Land had the best shows back in the day, am I right? "The Munsters" is definitely one of them.
4. "Who's the Boss?"
(1984 - 1992)
Starring: Tony Danza and Judith Light
Watching this on TV Guide Network was the best! I was always so distracted by it that I forgot to look at the programs on every channel.
5. "The Golden Girls"
(1985 - 1992)
Starring: Betty White, Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan, and Estelle Getty
I hate to ruin your day, but of the four women, Betty White is the only one still alive.
6. "Mister Ed"
(1958 - 1966)
Starring: Alan Young, Allan Lane, and Connie Hines
"A horse is a horse, of course, of course..."
7. "The Brady Bunch"
(1969 - 1974)
Starring: Robert Reed, Florence Henderson, Ann B. Davis, Maureen McCormick, Eve Plumb, Susan Olsen, Barry Williams, Christopher Knight, and Mike Lookinland
Did anybody else notice that the attic got bigger...? Nope? Just me?
8. "Everybody Loves Raymond"
(1996 - 2005)
Starring: Ray Romano, Patricia Heaton, Brad Garrett, Peter Boyle, and Doris Roberts
You loved him as the voice of Manny from "Ice Age," but did you know the Ray Romano had his own TV show? And you probably also know Patricia Heaton as the mom, Frankie, from "The Middle."
9. "Reba"
(2001 - 2007)
Starring: Reba McEntire, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Steve Howey, Christopher Rich, Melissa Peterman, Mitch Holleman, and Scarlett Pomers
If you can stand to listen to strong southern accents, then this show is for you! Reba McEntire isn't just a singer after all.
10. "Cheers"
Starring: Ted Danson, Shelley Long, Kirstie Alley, Rhea Perlman, John Ratzenberger, George Wendt, Woody Harrelson, and Kelsey Grammer
Did you know that you can actually visit Cheers Beacon Hill (a real version of the bar) in Boston, Massachusetts? Don't worry. It's not a real bar. You don't have to be twenty-one to enter!
11. "Green Acres"
(1965 - 1971)
Starring: Eddie Albert, Eva Gabor, and Tom Lester
Arnold Ziffel is still one of the best -- if not the best -- characters. Don't fight me on this.
12. "The Addams Family"
(1964 - 1966)
Starring: John Astin, Carolyn Jones, Jackie Coogan, Ted Cassidy, Marie Blake, Lisa Loring, and Ken Weatherwax
You thought I meant the movie, didn't you? Actually, the TV program was so much better than the "Addams Family" movies.
13. "Leave It to Beaver"
(1957 - 1963)
Starring: Jerry Mathers, Tony Dow, Hugh Beaumont, and Barbara Billingsley
This show is about the ideal, American family. If you don't believe me, watch it for yourself. June and Ward are the perfect parents, and Beaver annoys Wally just as much as any real brother would.
14. "Frasier"
(1993 - 2004)
Starring: Kelsey Grammer, David Hyde Pierce, John Mahoney, Jane Leeves, and Peri Gilpin
If you've seen Cheers, you probably already recognize Kelsey Grammer. And you probably already know that "Frasier" is a TV series about the life of Frasier Crane.
15. "The Beverly Hillbillies"
(1962 - 1971)
Starring: Buddy Ebsen, Irene Ryan, Donna Douglas, and Max Baer, Jr.
This show is hysterical. Black and white comedies like this do not exist anymore! But after 1965, it aired in color.
16. "I Dream of Jeannie"
(1965 - 1970)
Starring: Barbara Eden, Larry Hagman, Bill Daily, and Hayden Rorke
Ever wonder why Jeannie was fairly modest during the first several episodes? It's actually because Barbara Eden was pregnant!
17. "The Twilight Zone"
( 1959 - 1964)
Starring: Rod Serling
Every episode is different. If you're looking for a show with basically no plotline other than the supernatural, look no further!
You won't find any like them anymore, sadly. I would venture to say that "I Love Lucy" and "Cheers" are my favorite older television programs. Some of the shows, like "The Twilight Zone," can be found on Netflix too! Now that there is a list, why not make a point of watching some of these amazing TV shows? that there is a list, why not make a point of watching some of these amazing TV shows?
